Global: Coffee demand increased by 2% year-on-year in fiscal year 2011-2012

According to the US media report on May 17th: In the context of rising coffee consumption in major emerging markets, especially in Asia and South America, global coffee demand increased by 2% year-on-year during the 2011-2012 fiscal year.

According to the latest survey report by Bloomberg, in the context of rising global coffee consumption and lower market volume, as of the end of May 2012, the transaction price of coffee futures contracts may exceed $2,236 per ton. Currently, on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), as of May 17, 2012, the price of coffee futures contracts delivered in July 2012 fell by 1.25 cents to 176.75 cents per bushel.

According to another report, coffee consumption has increased in India as coffee drinks have been particularly favored by young people and India’s domestic coffee market has grown in momentum. For the 2011-2012 fiscal year, India is expected to produce approximately 322,000 tons of coffee products.
