The productivity depends on the composition of the feed. If the amount of coarse material is large, the productivity is lower.

Hard pellet feed machine is a kind of rapid development and application in China. The hard pellet machined pellet feed has improved nutrient composition and taste. Mainly used to suppress raw materials with low water content (13% or less), such as raw material moisture greater than 17% to 18%, will produce a paste, resulting in plugging of the mold hole, must pay attention when using. Hard pellet feed has a low moisture content and is easy to store, but it is not floating and is suitable for herring, grass carp and squid.

Extruded pellet feed machine, also known as floating pellet feed machine, is a new type of feed processing machine developed in recent years. After the feedstuff is processed by the expanded granules, the nutrient composition and the digestibility can be improved, and the physiology characteristic of the fish's intestine is short and the digestive power is weak, which is also an ideal granular feed for fishery. Extruded pellet feed can float on the water for 6 hours to 12 hours without looseness, making it easy for fish to feed.

The three types of pellet machines mentioned above have advantages and disadvantages, and they must be selected based on their own actual conditions and economic conditions. It should generally be considered from the following three aspects.

1. According to the size of the water surface and the yield of pond fish, select the required feed machine. Its productivity should be able to meet the needs of the total amount of feed needed throughout the year, and it should also take into account factors such as daily demand and monthly demand during the peak season.

2. Select a feed machine with higher productivity. After determining the productivity, the productivity per unit of electricity is a very important economic indicator. The productivity per unit of electricity is high, the feed processing cost is low, and the economic efficiency is high.

3. Select the type of feed machine. The moisture content of soft pellet machined feed is as high as 20%~30%. It should not be stored. Soon after entering the water, it will melt. The pelleting temperature is 43°C~55°C. It is suitable for adding anti-fish disease drugs without destroying vitamins. The processing cost is low. The disadvantage is that the output per unit of electricity is low and it is easy to wear. At present, the number of applications is not large. Hard particle machined pellets have a small volume, are easy to store and transport, and have no loss of nutrient content, high electrical output per kilowatt hour, and good quality of processed particles. There are two types of hard particle machines, the ring mode and the flat mode. The ring model particle machine structure is more complex, the use of maintenance technology requires high, only applies to large feed processing plants; flat mode particle machine structure is relatively simple, easy to use and maintenance, suitable for small and medium-sized feed processing plants. At present, the most popular ones in China are flat-mode pellet machines. Extruded granule machined pellet feed has the advantages of sterilization, ripening, and easy digestion and absorption of fish like food. However, the machine has low productivity, high prices and high feed processing costs. It is generally suitable for small water surfaces and fish ponds.
