Release date: 2018-07-19 A new study published in Molecular Oncology suggests that protein and RNA detection of the remaining tissues of routine breast cancer testing may result in more accurate results. By using fine needles to aspirate tissue samples from 25 breast cancer patients and 33 benign tumor patients, the researchers found that all patients with malignant tumors and benign patients could be completely separated by protein and RNA analysis. This study demonstrates that in addition to providing conclusive diagnostic information, it is important to classify breast cancer through minimally invasive techniques that can help determine the most appropriate treatment for each patient, monitor disease progression, and respond to treatment.
