The axial force has an effect on the critical speed. The critical speed will be described later. The relationship between critical speed and axial force is:

If the axial force is the tensile force, the critical speed of the shaft becomes larger. If the axial force is the pressure, the critical speed becomes smaller. This phenomenon is due to the tendency of the axial tension to increase the shaft stiffness, so the critical speed value of the shaft is increased. Conversely, the axial pressure reduces the stiffness of the shaft, thus reducing the critical speed value of the shaft.

The calculation formula of the axial force is considered in the turbulent state. If the flow state is laminar flow, the radial force of the fluid is very small, and the impeller is mainly subjected to the torque and the axial force is small due to the fluid viscous force. The bending moment is small, so the smaller the Reynolds number, the smaller the axial force, and the anchor type paddle and the ribbon type paddle basically do not need to consider the axial thrust of the fluid.

The reader should note that the calculation of the blade thickness in the standard HG/T20569 is only considering the thrust in the turbulent state, and is not applicable to the case under laminar flow.
