Balcony vegetables nursery tips

The cultivation of balcony vegetables includes the four processes of seed sowing, sowing, seedling transplanting and harvesting. If the previous seedling work is not done well, the conditions for seed germination cannot be achieved, and the final yield or even the grain will not be received. What are the tips for balcony vegetable nursery?

1. Disinfection

Seeds often carry bacteria, in order to reduce the seedling disease, ensure that the seedlings thrive, it is best to simply disinfect the seeds before sowing.

Seeds generally bought from the market can be soaked in warm water. Soak the seeds in hot water at 55°C-60°C for 10-15 minutes, then lower the water temperature to 25°C-30°C, continue immersing for 3-4 hours, and then remove and dry.

2. Germination

It depends on the circumstances whether or not germination is needed. Tomato, pepper, eggplant, cucumber and other fruit and vegetable seeds germinate slowly and need to be primed.

Seeds must be soaked before germination, but soaking time should not be too long. After experiments, cucumbers are used for 1 to 2 hours, and pepper, eggplant and tomato are suitable for soaking in 3 to 4 hours (including soaking time when the seeds are disinfected).

Raise several layers of gauze, filter paper or absorbent paper towel at the bottom of the nursery dish, soak it with water, control the soaked seeds to water, put them in the seedling tray, and put them in the environment of 28°C~30°C for 1-5 days, until Germinating seeds can be sown. During germination, if the seeds are dry, water can be added to the seedling trays to maintain the infiltration of gauze and other bedding to keep the seeds moist.

3. Sowing

There are three kinds of sowing, namely sowing, drilling and sowing. The sowing is based on the seed point set to dig a hole; the seeding is a certain distance to ditch the sowing, and then cover the soil; sowing is to spread the seeds evenly on the soil surface, and then cover the soil.

It is difficult to sow seeds evenly at the time of sowing. The seed and fine sand can be stirred 1:3 before sowing, and then poured into an empty seasoning bottle, shaken well and then spread out through the cover hole. As a result, the density of sowing will be more uniform and there is no need to worry about being blown off by the wind. The fine sand can also be covered with a small amount to facilitate the germination of the seeds.

4. Nursery

First use a medium-sized plastic tray, glass tray, and other containers as a "seeding tray." It is best to disinfect the sowing tray with 50% bleach or other disinfectant prior to sowing to reduce the chance of contaminating the seeds.

Put the culture medium with moderate pH in the container, spread the seeds into the container, and then cover the soil with a depth of 0.5-1cm. Keep in mind that the seeds are too deep to germinate.
